If neither of these hotels work for you, there are a lot of other options around Portland, especially in the downtown area. Try Hotwire for a good deal (Downtown Portland and South Waterfront are the closest areas to the race venue). You might also consider the RiverPlace Hotel, which is next to the race venue.
